Job Title: Surgical Tech Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 2 years License: Yes Certifications: BLS Certification, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA Must-Have: Must be able to do both cardiovascular and regular operating room cases. Candidates must have trauma, orthopedic, and general experience. Description: Unit consists of a cardiovascular operating room and multiple general operating rooms. Average number of cases per day is 14. Techs must be certified and have BLS certification. Common types of surgical cases include orthopedic (total joints), gynecological, urology, trauma surgeries, ENT, general, some plastics, vascular, neuro, and robotics. The cardiovascular cases include open heart, valves, thoracotomy, and trauma. Call is required, and there is a first to float policy. Cancellation policy allows hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is Cerner. Trauma level is acute.
