Job Title Instructor (Non-Renewable) – Wildlife Biology Agency East Texas A&M University Department Biological & Environmental Science Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Commerce, Texas Job Type Faculty Summary The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences is currently accepting applications for a full‑time, non‑renewable nine‑month Instructor position. The role involves teaching wildlife biology, conservation science, and ecology courses at the Commerce, TX campus starting in Fall 2026. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork and provide service to the department, the university, and the local community as part of their role. Duties & Responsibilities Teach 15 hours (or equivalent) of undergraduate or graduate courses in wildlife biology, habitat ecology, and GIS, for undergraduate and graduate levels, in face‑to‑face and online format. Maintain quality programming in terms of expectations for activity, quality instruction, and record keeping. Coordinate and facilitate associated labs with Wildlife and Conservation Science and Biology Faculty. Engage in service within the department of biological and environmental science and serve on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. Perform other duties as needed, related to the overall mission of the department, the college, and the university. Foster a work environment of respect, understanding, and collaboration. Minimum Requirements Education: Doctoral or master’s degree in biology, wildlife biology, ecology, or a closely related discipline. Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Fluent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively, commitment to high‑quality teaching, dedication to high standards and student success, experience working with wildlife in real‑world and research settings. Ability to: Multi‑task and work well as part of a team. Preferred Education / Skills / Experience Higher education teaching experience. Experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. Supervision Of Others Overseeing the teaching of laboratories related to the teaching of assigned courses, including supervision of Graduate Assistants and Learning Assistants.
