They will collaborate with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care to patients.Key ResponsibilitiesUtilize the nursing process to provide quality patient care by completing assessments, analyzing data, and administering medication according to established standards.Respond to psychiatric emergencies, assess for suicide ideation, and manage appropriate risk levels.Communicate with healthcare staff regarding patient mental health status, document findings in patient health records, and provide crisis intervention and counseling as required.Coordinate activities of assigned shift, respond to intake area requests, and maintain a clean, safe, and secure working environment.Initiate lifesaving measures, identify medical emergencies, and arrange transportation to hospital as needed. Additionally, may participate in interviewing and training new staff and be responsible for evaluating and training direct reports.Qualifications & RequirementsEducationGraduate from an accredited school of nursingExperience3+ years' working in a psychiatric nurse rolePrevious correctional/detention facility experienceAt least two years' experience providing treatment to adults with various mental health disabilitiesLicenses/CertificationsCurrent (and must maintain) unrestricted RN license in state of practicePsychiatric–Mental Health Nursing Certification, i.e. via ANCC, or has completed required hours and is in process of testing for certificationCurrent (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHAThis position is available only to those who reside in the United States.We Are an Equal Employment Opportunity EmployerWe value the contributions of team members with a broad range of experiences, skills, and perspectives and are committed to providing equal employment opportunity for all.We encourage you to apply!
