Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86‑bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our four outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Job Duties Conduct complete nursing assessment of all admissions including risk assessments (SAO, elopement, assault, suicide); educational needs, and medication review. Complete all required nursing documents within established timeframe. Actively participate in treatment team meetings and decisions, collect and include data in care plan updates, assess patient needs, design and implement programs, and document/evaluate patient responses. Document nursing care and treatment progression through timely and accurate chart entries and nursing treatment plan updates. Complete treatment plans as per policy. Appropriately notify physicians of changes in condition and other patient issues as per policy. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and the milieu. Appropriately monitor patients through detox, including CIWA and COWS assessments. Provide oversight of completion of physician orders, including labs, EKGs, and x‑rays. Ensure medication & treatment are administered as prescribed and that documentation reflects care provided. Complete medication consents from patient or guardian as per policy. Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to Mental Health Technicians and LPNs. Provide oversight of q15 observations as evidenced by signatures on q15 observation rounding’s. Conduct rounds. Provide and direct milieu management. Actively assist nurses and MHT’s, keeping safety foremost. May need to assist patients with personal hygiene and ADL’s as needed. May provide q15 observation round coverage at times. Assess, direct and intervene in crisis situations. Recognize and take preventive steps to reduce incidence of restraint and seclusion. Provide and document patient and family education. Lead nurse education groups and complete documentation. Initiate and account for Special Treatment Procedures. Provide a thorough and accurate report to the oncoming shift and complete an appropriate hand‑off of the patients and q15 observation forms. Manage and order unit supplies for patient activities and non‑group time that support a positive therapeutic environment. Complete chart checks as assigned. Float to other units as assigned. Serve as a mentor and trainer to new employees. May be assigned to perform Mental Health Technician (MHT) and/or 1:1 duties. Perform other duties as assigned/required by this position.
