- Client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Generative AI Engineer to join our Investment Technology team in New York City. The ideal candidate will have strong Python development expertise, hands-on experience building Generative AI/LLM solutions, AWS cloud experience, and deep knowledge of Asset Management or Financial Services.
- This role will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Investment Teams, Operations, Product, and Technology stakeholders to develop and deliver AI-powered solutions that improve investment workflows, research, portfolio management, analytics, and operational efficiency.
- The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly with investment professionals, translating complex business requirements into scalable technology solutions, and taking GenAI solutions from prototype through production.
- Design, develop, and deploy Generative AI and LLM-powered applications using Python and modern AI/ML frameworks.
- Build AI solutions leveraging LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), embeddings, vector databases, and AI agents.
- Develop scalable Python-based APIs, services, and data pipelines supporting AI and investment technology applications.
- Integrate GenAI capabilities with enterprise data sources, investment platforms, APIs, and internal applications.
- Leverage AWS services to build, deploy, monitor, and scale AI solutions in production.
- Work with investment professionals and Portfolio Managers to identify and prioritize GenAI use cases across research, portfolio management, risk, and operations.
- Build solutions that securely process and retrieve financial and investment-related data.
- Develop evaluation, testing, monitoring, and governance frameworks for LLM/GenAI applications.
- Implement responsible AI practices around security, data privacy, model performance, and access controls.
- Collaborate with global technology teams and stakeholders across New York and London.
- Modernize existing investment technology applications by incorporating AI capabilities and automation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, contractors, and vendor resources.
- Work with vendors and platforms such as BlackRock Aladdin, Snowflake, and other investment technology solutions.
- Continuously identify opportunities to automate manual investment and operational processes using AI.
- 10+ years of professional experience in Asset Management, Investment Banking, Wealth Management, or Financial Services.
- Strong hands-on Python development experience.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying Generative AI / LLM applications.
- Strong understanding of LLM architectures, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and AI agents.
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services and architecture.
- Experience with services such as S3, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, Bedrock, or similar AWS technologies.
- Strong experience building REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
- Experience working with SQL, databases, and large financial/investment datasets.
- Experience taking AI solutions from POC/prototype to production.
- Strong understanding of software engineering practices including CI/CD, testing, monitoring, logging, security, and version control.
- Ability to work directly with Portfolio Managers and investment teams and translate business problems into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience building GenAI solutions specifically for Asset Management or Investment Management.
- Knowledge of Portfolio Management Systems (PMS), Order Management Systems (OMS), risk platforms, and investment workflows.
- Experience with BlackRock Aladdin or similar investment platforms.
- Experience with Snowflake and cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience with AWS Bedrock or other managed foundation-model services.
- Knowledge of ETFs, multi-asset portfolios, portfolio analytics, investment research, or trading workflows.
- Experience implementing RAG pipelines over financial documents, research, portfolio data, or investment knowledge bases.
- Familiarity with LLM evaluation, hallucination mitigation, model monitoring, and AI governance.
