About the Role:

A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Recovery Associate Attorney with at least 4 years of relevant experience to join its Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice in Chicago, Illinois. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a strong background in policyholder-side insurance coverage litigation and recovery to handle sophisticated coverage disputes, complex insurance claims, and strategic counseling matters across multiple industries. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced partners, advise corporate policyholders, and take on meaningful responsibility in a collaborative environment that supports professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent corporate policyholders in complex insurance coverage litigation, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
• Handle insurance coverage matters involving Directors and Officers (D&O), cyber liability, Representations and Warranties Insurance (RWI), Commercial General Liability (CGL), environmental liability, Errors and Omissions (E&O), property, business interruption, and other first-party and third-party coverages.
• Advise clients on insurance recovery strategies, coverage disputes, and complex insurance-related issues.
• Analyze and interpret commercial insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage provisions.
• Draft coverage analyses, legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive legal documents.
• Assist clients in securing defense and indemnity coverage for third-party liability claims and significant losses.
• Work closely with clients, insurers, insurance brokers, adjusters, and underlying defense counsel to advance insurance recovery objectives.
• Manage litigation activities, including factual investigation, discovery, motion practice, and hearing and trial preparation.
• Conduct legal research and develop effective strategies to resolve complex insurance coverage disputes.
• Maintain strong client relationships while delivering practical, business-focused legal advice.

Required Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• Active admission to the applicable state bar in good standing, or the ability to obtain admission promptly.
• Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in insurance recovery, insurance coverage litigation, or policyholder-side coverage counseling.
• Demonstrated experience representing policyholders in insurance coverage and recovery matters.
• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance policies, coverage analysis, and insurance dispute resolution.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience managing litigation matters, drafting substantive legal documents, and developing case strategies.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound professional judgment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, clients, and other professionals.
• High degree of professionalism, initiative, and commitment to client service.
• Federal judicial clerkship experience is a plus but not required.
