Job Title: RN Clinical Periop Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 0645 to 1715, 3 days per week (Primarily Mon-Fri, but weekends possible for call shifts) Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care preferred; completion of accredited/approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours required License: Registered Nurse (Single State or Multi-state Compact) Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor; PALS required Must-Have: - Ability to read, write, and speak English - Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills - Customer service skills - Ability to function in a fast-paced environment - Excellent time management skills - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The framework for practice is steered by the Professional Practice Model, 5-Star Nursing, and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient and system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: The nurse performs the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They use evidence-based practice and analytical thinking to ensure care is individualized. They coordinate care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient outcomes. They provide patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics in a manner that reflects cultural diversity. They partner with patients and significant others, using appropriate methods for setting and purpose. They practice using current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: The nurse coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. They promote diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods. Responsibilities include timely documentation and fostering a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. They demonstrate teamwork and practice in a fiscally responsible manner. Participation in performance improvement activities is expected. Professional Development and Initiative: The nurse completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education. They may serve as a preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The nurse promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. Participation in data collection and addressing clinical practice questions is expected. Resources and Support: The nurse proactively plans for patient care across the care continuum during direct patient care.
