About the Role The role is within Index Engineering, a global team responsible for developing and launching indices at S&P Dow Jones Indices. The position encompasses the full lifecycle of index development and requires a highly analytical, creative individual with strong attention to detail. Key responsibilities include: Develop calculation prototypes and test cases for new indices. Perform test calculations and reconcile results with clients. Analyze, develop, and implement indices on our strategic Python-based platform. Create and review index methodologies. Understand industry regulation and provide compliance guidance to clients. Support the operation team in launching, ongoing delivery, and overall quality of service. Responsibilities and Impact The Index Engineering team prototypes, builds, and launches indices across various asset classes. The team handles the full lifecycle of the index development process and interfaces with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure successful product delivery. Each index built and launched contributes directly to SPDJI’s mission, market strategy, and revenue goal. This role provides opportunities to: Understand and implement cutting‑edge index products. Compensation/Benefits Information Compensation (Canada only): The anticipated range is $75,671 to $110,528. Final compensation is based on performance, geographic location, experience, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. What We’re Looking For Basic Required Qualifications Master’s degree in math, finance, or other quantitative discipline. Knowledge of fixed income and other asset classes, including equities, FX, and commodities. Knowledge of index construction processes and methodologies, including back‑testing and optimization. Experience in an asset‑management context is a plus. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency. Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision. High attention to detail and quality focus. Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities for solving original, non‑routine problems. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate with global clients and colleagues. 2–3+ years of professional experience in indices or a similar role. Preferred Qualifications Strength in quantitative analysis and optimization. Advanced technical ability with Python.
