Section: Aviation Unit/Bureau of Investigative Services/Criminal Law Division Class: Special Agent III (Unmanned Aircraft System Supervisor) Location: Statewide – BNI Regional Offices Only Telework: Telework is not offered for this position Position Type: Full-time, Non-civil service, Union Work Hours: 8:30 - 5:00 Salary Range: Starting salary of $82,350 -For current Office of Attorney General employees, promotional pay increase rules will apply Basic Function This Special Agent III position supervises the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) detachment of the Aviation Unit and entails criminal investigative work of a highly confidential nature performed by agents of the Office of Attorney General (OAG) involving the detection and investigation of violations of the laws and statutes of the Commonwealth as specified in The Commonwealth Attorneys Act, the Public Welfare Code, and other applicable Commonwealth laws, statutes, and regulations. This position reports directly to the Special Agent IV/Aviation Director. An employee in this position utilizes the entire spectrum of investigative processes and procedures in the conduct of, or in aiding with the conduct of, criminal investigations ranging from routine to the most sensitive, complex, and difficult cases, or supervises agents in the conduct of such investigations, utilizing unmanned aircraft systems. An employee in this position will supervise all licensed Part 107 UAV operators throughout the Office of Attorney General and ensure Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) compliance regarding all UAS operations. Supervises the UAS detachment of the Aviation Unit Oversees the standardization and training of the Office of Attorney General Part 107 UAS operators Manages FAA compliance Is in charge of FAA Certificate of Authorization (COA) compliance and reports Ensures compliance of the FAA Blanket COA, the FAA Jurisdiction COA, and FAA waivers Manages all forms and records to include Part 107 currency requirements, post flight reports, and end of month statistics Schedules UAS missions and assigns aircrews Oversees safety requirements and risk assessment reviews and approvals Is the direct liaison between the Office of Attorney General UAS detachment and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies Plans routes to be taken based on weather conditions, destination, terrain, time limits, and safety requirements Conducts preflight inspections of drones ensuring that all equipment is operational, adequate fuel is aboard, and all necessary aircraft documents and charts required for the flight are aboard Assists in the scheduling of UAS maintenance Maintains flight logs on aircraft departure and arrival times and a personal log on hours of flight time accumulated Performs Tactical Flight Officer (TFO) duties as assigned on OAG fixed wing aircraft and Counterdrug rotary wing aircraft. Performs related work Two years as a Special Agent II or Narcotics Agent II OR In addition to the below qualifications, applicants must have Act 120 certification, certification from an Act 120 equivalent training program as determined by the Office of Attorney General or have successfully completed the Commonwealth Investigators Training Program. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Police Science, or related major and two years of qualifying experience in the law enforcement field OR Eight years of criminal investigative work of a technical level equivalent to the duties and responsibilities performed by a Special Agent II OR Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and education Experience operating DJI specific drones while conducting law enforcement operations to include the Matrice 30T and Mavic systems Airborne Public Safety Association UAS Proctor Course Graduate Minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement UAS operations Experience operating DRONESENSE software Experience with the procurement of UAS equipment Experience operating tactical down-link broadcast and receive equipment Prior supervisory experience in law enforcement Must be able and available to operate in a fast-paced environment with irregular work hours #J-18808-Ljbffr Attorney General
