Our team is looking for an experienced Commercial Refrigeration & Ice Machine Technician with experience of Manitowoc Ice Machines. In this role, your primary function will be to install, diagnose, and service ice machines and walk-in coolers/freezers. You will also service commercial and residential climate control systems when no refrigeration jobs are available. Your expertise will ensure our clients experience optimal comfort, efficiency, and reliable system performance. This position offers a starting pay of $20/hr. plus commission on parts and labor sold, paid weekly.

Schedule

• A standard workday starts at 8:00am with an ideal end of day at 5:00pm.
• Technicians rotate on-call weeks. (Frequency depends on number of technicians on rotation)
• The technician that is on-call works a 6-day work week (Mon-Sat) with after hour services starting at 5:00pm and no calls accepted after 8:00pm (Mon-Sat) and Sunday is all after hours starting at 8:00am and no calls accepted after 8:00pm.
• Cooling season has a standard 6-day work week (Mon-Sat).
• Heating season has a standard 5-day work week (Mon-Fri).

Duties

• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC/R systems including ice machines, refrigeration equipment, and air conditioning units.
• Troubleshoot electrical diagnostics, mechanical systems, plumbing connections, and refrigeration issues using schematics and technical manuals.
• Conduct equipment troubleshooting with hand tools and specialized testing devices such as ohmmeters to identify faults accurately.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC/R system components such as compressors, fans, valves, thermostats, and electrical controls to restore optimal operation.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and HVAC design plans to ensure precise system installation and repairs.
• Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document all repairs performed for client records and warranty purposes.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards including EPA regulations for refrigerants.

Skills Needed

• Proven experience as a service technician in HVAC/R systems is required.
• Training and experience on Manitowoc ice machines is preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical diagnostics skills for troubleshooting complex HVAC/R systems.
• Ability to read schematics, HVAC/R design plans, and building automation system diagrams effectively.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC/R system installation, repair, maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting across various mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, multimeters, ohmmeters, and specialized testing devices.
• Knowledge of plumbing systems related to HVAC/R applications including piping connections for refrigerants and water systems.
• Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record is mandatory.
