Project Controls SpecialistPosition OverviewThe Project Controls Specialist will support project delivery by developing, maintaining and reporting on schedule, cost, and change-control systems for medium to large construction and power generation projects. The role ensures accurate WBS development, resource-loaded scheduling, forecasting and performance measurement using Primavera and other planning tools, and works closely with project managers, planners and discipline leads across upstream and downstream activities to keep projects on time and on budget.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain and update resource-loaded CPM schedules using Primavera P6 (baseline, rolling wave and look-ahead schedules).Create and maintain a clear Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) aligned to project scope and contract requirements.Perform schedule risk analysis, critical path analysis and recommend recovery or mitigation actions.Produce regular progress reports, dashboards and variance analyses for project leadership and stakeholders.Implement and maintain change control processes, evaluate schedule and cost impacts of change orders and coordinate approvals.Support cost control and forecasting processes including cost-to-complete, earned value management (EVM) metrics and cash flow forecasting.Coordinate with construction, commissioning and discipline leads across upstream and downstream scopes to ensure integrated planning and execution.Prepare and support claims, disputes or delay analyses by providing schedule narratives, time-impact analyses and supporting documentation.Maintain and optimize Primavera P6 project databases, standards, templates and scheduling best practices.Train and mentor project teams on scheduling standards, WBS structure, and project controls tools and processes.QualificationsBachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, or related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum 5 years experience in project controls or scheduling on construction and/or power generation projects, with exposure to upstream and downstream scopes.Proven expertise in Primavera P6; familiarity with MS Project and project controls software is a plus.Demonstrated experience creating WBS, resource-loaded schedules, and maintaining baselines and schedule updates.Experience with earned value management (EVM), cost forecasting and basic cost control processes.Proficiency in schedule risk analysis, critical path evaluation and time-impact analysis for claims or delays.Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to interpret complex project data for stakeholders.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for interfacing with project managers, contractors and owners.Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., PMI-SP, PSP, AACE Certifications, or Primavera certification).Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment and adapt to changing priorities.Benefits100% Employee ownedHealth, Dental, Vision Insurance Health & Wellness programs PTO, Holidays, Parental Leave, Flexible Work ArrangementsChildcare discount program, Dependent Care FSA, Fertility Coverage, Reimbursements Recognition programTuition AssistanceCertification and Registration Assistance
