Case Specialist

Position Summary Manage the development and execution of regulatory case filings in each jurisdiction in which Xcel operates, including resource planning, facility certifications or abandonment, restructuring implementation, restructuring compliance, and rulemaking proceedings to achieve results consistent with corporate business objectives. Prepare and sponsor testimony supporting Xcel positions. Essential Responsibilities Manage all aspects of a regulatory case, including evaluation, preparation, processing, and implementation of regulatory case filings for electric, gas, and steam. Set out Xcel's positions on specific case issues and perform multiple projects simultaneously. Manage and coordinate the preparation of regulatory testimony, exhibits, data requests, filing packages, rulemaking comments, and reports for filing with regulatory commissions. Maintain compliance with case schedules and advise all levels of management on case progression and recommend alternative strategies for processing cases. Identify potential outcomes of a particular strategy for management decision-making. Identify and interpret complex issues arising in regulatory proceedings, utilizing in-depth knowledge of regulatory laws, rules, policies, and procedures. Initiate and coordinate negotiations when necessary to settle regulatory cases with involved parties. Represent the department and Xcel before regulatory agencies, internal and external customers, the legal department, and interveners. Require strong verbal and written communication skills; present complex information to diverse audiences. Prepare and sponsor testimony supporting company positions. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements BA/BS in Business or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum of five years’ experience in regulatory field preferred. Knowledgeable of existing and emerging competitive regulatory issues. Proficient use of PC software such as Excel and Word. Periodic overnight travel and willingness for extensive overtime. Compensation Anticipated starting base pay: $84,900.00 to $120,566.66 per year.
