Supplier Quality Engineer

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Supplier Quality Engineer located in Columbia, SC . The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for supplier development in a manufacturing or service process; works with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans. What a typical day looks like Supplier Selection — Select the suitable supplier with jointed-effort of sourcing on aspects of quality, capability, pricing, delivery, environment, society regulation, etc. against customer requirements. Supplier Qualification — Implement the new supplier qualification through the process of capability matching, supplier risk assessment, supplier self-assessment, onsite qualification audit, qualification database management. VEA (Value-Added Engineering Activity) — Understand customer drawing and specification to feedback value-added engineering proposal to customer and supplier for optimization of supplier manufacturing process or products. Material (Component) Qualification — Implement PPAP (FAI). PPAP includes FAI, Material Certificates, Quality/Process Control Plan, FMEA, MSA, Process Parameter Sheet, RoHS compliance, Reliability Test, COC, etc. Pilot Run Tracking — Track the new qualified parts quality performance to ensure meeting customer quality requirements in pilot run phase. Drive supplier corrective action from suppliers in Pilot Runs (1-3 lots) and smoothly transfer the pilot run to mass production. Hot Issue Solution and Troubleshooting — Work as SME (Subject Matter Expert) to help on supplier quality hot issue and troubleshooting. Audit and Compliance — Support annual maintenance audits for existing suppliers with SQE involvement. Continuous Improvement — Support supplier CIP (Continuous Improvement Program) to help suppliers use quality tools to improve manufacturing processes and product quality. ECO/ECN/SCR — Handle ECO/ECN/SCR from customer and follow up the status in case PPAP/FAI is required prior to production. Quality Improvement — Apply knowledge of a company\'s manufacturing process to work with suppliers in improving quality of components of goods and services. Quality Audits — Perform quality audits on suppliers to ensure products and services meet ISO and regulatory standards. Relationship Management — Build and maintain relationships with purchasing engineers and supplier systems to sustain a strong supplier network for the organization. Cross-Functional Support — Provide cross- functional help to select, approve and develop suppliers to meet customer and business needs. Vendor Guidance — Ensure supplier selection, development, approval and rejection align with vendor guidelines and requirements. Process Effectiveness — Drive assessment of supplier process control plans, measures and activities. Data Analysis — Use statistical techniques and professional judgment to research data for process improvement. Process Validation — Develop and guide execution of process validations and tests; document results (protocols/reports). Process Capability — Guide supplier process capability studies. Experimental Methods — Design and conduct experiments to characterize supplier processes and identify root causes. New/Improved Processes — Develop and implement procedures for new and/or improved supplier processes. Inspection Support — Provide engineering help to Receiving Inspection including statistical research, measurement systems analysis, Gage R&R studies and inspection procedures. QC Collaboration — Participate in Material Review Board resolutions on supplier-provided parts and services. Quality Systems — Participate in supplier Quality System Improvement Plans and guide the Supplier Requests for Change process. Audits and Corrective Actions — Perform supplier Quality System audits and corrective and preventive actions with suppliers. Performance Monitoring — Analyze non-conformances and supplier performance for KPIs; monitor dock-to-stock and part selection activities. Team Guidance — Provide guidance to project teams for supplied component and supplier qualifications; identify risks/hazards related to new product designs, processes, suppliers and applications. Safety and Operations — Ensure safe operation of job-related equipment and contribute to supplier performance improvement. Continuous Improvement — Rate and track supplier performance and drive continuous improvement; establish and maintain supplier management processes and tools.
