Lead Barista

WINNER is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Lead Barista to anchor our morning coffee service at our new flagship in Downtown Brooklyn.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves great coffee, takes pride in hospitality, and knows how to keep a team organized and calm during a busy morning rush. As our AM opener, you’ll set the tone for the day—making sure the bar is ready, the coffee is dialed in, the team is supported, and guests receive fast, friendly, and consistently excellent service.

You’ll spend most of your day working alongside the team while taking ownership of morning bar operations. You’ll help ensure both locations are ready for service, maintain coffee quality, coach baristas, and keep the flow of service moving.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Opening the café and kiosk according to WINNER standards
• Preparing all bar and service stations for a smooth start to the day
• Dialing in espresso each morning and adjusting throughout the day as needed
• Maintaining high standards for espresso, brewed coffee, tea, and other beverages
• Ensuring beverage recipes and preparation standards are followed consistently
• Working hands-on behind the bar, on POS, and with food running during busy service
• Supporting accurate and efficient order flow and guest handoff
• Training and coaching new and existing baristas
• Providing calm, constructive direction during busy morning service
• Helping the team maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar
• Monitoring coffee, milk, tea, and other bar supplies and communicating ordering needs
• Following all food safety, sanitation, and equipment standards
• Communicating operational issues, staffing concerns, or supply needs to management
• Helping create a positive, collaborative, and professional morning team

• An experienced barista with strong espresso and coffee knowledge
• Comfortable dialing in espresso and maintaining consistency throughout service
• A natural leader who enjoys teaching and supporting others
• Calm, organized, and confident during high-volume service
• Detail-oriented and committed to quality
• Friendly, warm, and genuinely hospitality-minded
• Reliable and comfortable with an early morning schedule
• A strong communicator and team player
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, primarily to-go environment
• Someone who takes pride in keeping their workspace clean, organized, and ready for service

Previous lead or supervisory experience is preferred, but we're especially interested in candidates who demonstrate strong technical coffee skills, initiative, and the ability to lead by example.

Typical start times: 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM
Schedule runs through lunch service

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys starting their day early and being finished in the afternoon.
