Campus Police Officer

Position Title: Campus Police Officer Position Summary Responsible for the execution of the Weatherford College Police Department’s mission statement; to provide a safe and secure environment on the Weatherford College Campus. Protects the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to Weatherford College; guards college property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Key Responsibilities Patrol campus buildings and grounds, examine doors, windows, gates to ensure they are secure; warn violators of rule infractions and apprehend or expel those engaged in suspicious or criminal acts. Inspect equipment and machinery for tampering; investigate accidents, incidents, and offenses, prepare appropriate reports. Regulate traffic and parking to maintain orderly flow; enforce campus motor vehicle rules and regulations. Maintain uniforms, equipment, and vehicles; watch for irregularities such as hazards, leaking water pipes, and unsecured doors. Sound alarms and notify fire department; permit authorized persons to enter property. Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and equipment malfunction for supervisory staff. Prevent crime, preserve peace, protect life and property, detect and arrest violators of law, enforce state and local ordinances in accordance with department policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications HS diploma or equivalent; TX basic peace officer certification. 30 college credit hours (preferred). 0-6 months related experience (required); prior law enforcement experience preferred. Active TCOLE license required; valid current driver’s license required. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; males aged 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service System. Background check required, security‑sensitive position. Ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice; exercise highest professional ethical standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members. Effectively present information to various groups if necessary. Exercise highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises on‑duty security personnel. Physical Demands Requires walking, standing, and sitting constantly; lifting 21-50 lbs occasionally; carrying up to 20 lbs constantly; pushing/pulling over 50 lbs occasionally; occasional kneeling/squatting; handling firearms safely; operating vehicles; maintaining vision for situational awareness. Work may involve noisy and windy conditions, confined spaces, and exposure to weather.
