Precision CNC Prototype Machinist-Programmer

About the roleImagine starting your day reviewing a fresh prototype print, plotting your approach, and translating it into clean conversational code at the machine. You choose the tools, dial in offsets, and bring a complex idea to life on a CNC mill or lathe. Throughout the shift, you validate dimensions with micrometers and gauges, tweak offsets to chase perfect tolerances, and keep jobs flowing in a fast-paced, low-volume shop.What a typical day looks likeProgram directly at the control using conversational workflows to produce precision parts on CNC mills and/or lathes.Study blueprints, drawings, and GD&T callouts to plan setups and cutting strategies.Complete machine setups, run tool changes, and set or adjust work and tool offsets.Perform in-process and final inspection with calipers, micrometers, and gauges; document results as needed.Continuously monitor machining performance and adjust to hit quality and dimensional targets.Troubleshoot tooling, fixturing, and process issues to minimize downtime and scrap.Support prototype and short-run production typical of a dynamic job shop environment.Handle basic preventive maintenance and keep equipment in ready-to-run condition.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following safety standards.What you bringHands-on experience as a CNC machinist, programmer, or closely related role.Fluency with conversational programming at the machine control.Strong knowledge of CNC milling and/or turning, tooling selection, and machining processes.Ability to read prints and apply GD&T principles to production.Skilled with precision metrology: calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related tools.Resourceful problem solver with solid troubleshooting ability.Comfort operating independently and juggling multiple priorities in a job shop.Meticulous attention to detail and a strong quality mindset.Benefits401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceYou are proficient inGD&TCNC toolingPrecision measurement and hand metrologyMachine setups for production runs #J-18808-Ljbffr
