Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description
The Maintenance Technician supports a high-volume manufacturing facility by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing injection molding machines, conveyors, paint lines, chrome plating equipment, and automated assembly systems. This role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous production on night and third-shift schedules.
Responsibilities- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair injection molding machines, conveyors, and automated assembly equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Repair and maintain molding presses, paint line equipment, and plating equipment in a timely and effective manner.
- Install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment, including robots and programmable logic controllers (PLC) as needed.
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Inspect and test machinery and equipment to identify issues, verify proper operation, and confirm the effectiveness of repairs.
- Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Complete preventive maintenance on molding presses, paint line equipment, plating equipment, and related production machinery according to established schedules.
- Monitor and read gauges and other indicators to assess equipment performance and identify potential problems.
- Use basic mathematical skills to perform measurements, calculations, and adjustments required for maintenance tasks.
- Document all maintenance activities by completing daily logs of maintenance issues, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Use computer systems to enter work orders, record maintenance data, and access equipment information or manuals.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area, following all safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while effectively prioritizing and managing multiple maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with production and other departments to minimize downtime and support efficient manufacturing operations.
- Handle physical aspects of the role, including lifting up to 60 pounds, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, and grasping with hands and fingers as required to access and repair equipment.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience, with 15 years of experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
- Demonstrated experience with hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting, including pipe systems, valves, gauges, and pressure regulators.
- Ability to troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical issues on production machinery and automated equipment.
- Basic computer skills to document work, access information, and use maintenance-related software.
- Ability to monitor and accurately read gauges and other measurement devices.
- Strong mathematical skills to support measurements, adjustments, and technical problem-solving.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, and grasping.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing time and priorities effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and document maintenance activities.
- Ability to handle details, manage multiple tasks or small projects, and follow through to completion.
- Proven professionalism, initiative, and a progressive work history that reflects continuous learning and responsibility.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workplace at all times.
- 5 or more years of industrial maintenance experience is preferred.
- A 2-year maintenance or industrial technology degree is accepted in place of some hands-on experience and is strongly valued.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on injection molding equipment is preferred.
- Background in a high-volume manufacturing environment, particularly with molding, painting, or plating lines, is beneficial.
- PLC experience, including troubleshooting and basic programming of programmable logic controllers, is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience working with automated machinery, robotics, and conveyors is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including production, engineering, and leadership.
- Demonstrated examples of initiative and progressive learning in previous roles.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a large manufacturing facility that produces injection molded and plated automotive components such as grilles, handles, and interior trim parts for major vehicle manufacturers. The environment includes molding presses, automated assembly lines, paint lines, and chrome plating equipment. Some areas, particularly plating, can be dirty and require comfort working in an industrial setting. Available schedules include a third-shift molding schedule (approximately 11:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday) and a night shift in chrome plating (approximately 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation), with the possibility of shifts moving to a 12-hour 2-2-3 pattern. Work involves regular use of industrial tools and equipment, interaction with automated systems and PLCs, and adherence to plant safety and housekeeping standards appropriate for a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
