Salary: $25 - $35 per hour A bit about us: Founded more than 50 years ago and based in Bloomfield, Connecticut, we are a highly technical, vertically integrated manufacturer of aerospace fasteners and precision-machined components. We produce close-tolerance parts and assemblies for leading aerospace OEMs using advanced Swiss turning, mill-turn, horizontal milling, and 5-axis CNC technology. Our work supports demanding applications across commercial and military aircraft, jet engines, helicopters, rockets, satellites, and other flight-critical systems. Client has been an approved supplier to major aerospace manufacturers for nearly 40 years. Why join us? Advanced Equipment: Work with a fleet of 70 CNC machining centers, including Citizen, Tsugami, Nakamura, Okuma, Matsuura, and OKK equipment.
Complex Aerospace Work: Produce close-tolerance components and flight-critical aerospace fasteners—not repetitive commodity parts.
Modern Machining Technology: Gain exposure to Swiss, mill-turn, horizontal, 4-axis, 5-axis, multi-pallet, and lights-out machining.
Diverse Production: Work on everything from low-volume prototypes to production runs exceeding 10,000 pieces.
Technical Growth: Expand your experience with difficult aerospace alloys, GD&T, advanced inspection, and multi-axis processes.
Quality-Driven Environment: Join an aerospace manufacturer committed to continuous improvement, American-made manufacturing, and best-in-class quality.
Established Customer Base: Support programs for recognized aerospace and defense manufacturers, including Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace, Sikorsky, Textron, and Boeing. Job Details We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist capable of setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC equipment used to manufacture complex, close-tolerance aerospace components. This person must be comfortable working from detailed blueprints, selecting tooling and offsets, inspecting completed parts, and making the necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy throughout the production run. The position may support CNC turning, milling, Swiss machining, or multi-axis mill-turn operations depending on the candidate’s background and current production needs. Key Responsibilities and Duties Set up and operate CNC turning, milling, Swiss, or multi-axis machining equipment.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, work instructions, and aerospace specifications.
Install and qualify tooling, workholding, fixtures, collets, jaws, and cutting tools.
Establish work coordinates and make tool, wear, and geometry offset adjustments.
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, indicators, comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
Maintain close tolerances and verify dimensional conformity throughout each production run.
Troubleshoot dimensional variation, tooling wear, surface-finish problems, chatter, and other machining issues.
Perform machine prove-outs and safely verify new or revised CNC programs.
Optimize feeds, speeds, tooling, and machining processes when authorized.
Machine aerospace-grade materials such as stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, high-temperature alloys, alloy steel, and aluminum.
Complete required production, inspection, traceability, and quality documentation.
Identify and segregate nonconforming material in accordance with established quality procedures.
Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Support Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, setup reduction, and scrap-reduction initiatives.
Follow all company safety, quality, and aerospace manufacturing requirements. Qualifications Needed: High school diploma or GED required; technical-school training, apprenticeship, or machining certificate preferred.
Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience independently setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, Swiss machines, or mill-turn equipment.
Strong blueprint-reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
Experience producing close-tolerance components from detailed engineering drawings.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and in-process inspection.
Ability to enter and adjust tool offsets, work coordinates, feeds, and speeds.
Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, dimensional, and surface-finish issues.
Experience machining stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, or other aerospace-grade alloys strongly preferred.
Aerospace, medical-device, defense, or similarly regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
Familiarity with AS9100 documentation and traceability requirements is a plus.
Programming or program-editing experience is helpful but should not be treated as mandatory until the client confirms the expectations.
Ability to work the assigned shift and safely lift or position tooling, fixtures, and raw material as required Interested in hearing more? Easy Apply now by clicking the "Apply" button.
