Department Details: Responsible for performing complex testing in the Special Chemistry department using mass spectrometry instrumentation for Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs). Duties include quality control monitoring, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, calibration, documentation, and compliance with laboratory quality and regulatory standards.

Job Summary

Provide technical and other supporting assistance in the laboratories as assigned. The Laboratory Technologist will work in but not limited to Cytogenetics, Genetics or Infectious Disease (ID): Clinical laboratory to perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Ensures all medical laboratory safety standards and quality requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel. Must utilize critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology or other related field that includes 30 combined semester hours of biological science and chemistry required. Demonstrated lab experience, including but not limited to college laboratory experience preferred.
