Lead Software Engineer - AWS/Terraform - Data

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language; Java, Python, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript are strongly preferred
• Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted development tools, including setting standards to validate outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes in a discipline such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems
• Practical cloud-native experience designing and operating containerized workloads on Kubernetes (EKS), releasing them with Helm, and provisioning infrastructure with Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation
• Hands-on AWS experience with compute and container services (EKS/ECR), managed data stores (RDS/PostgreSQL, S3), event-driven messaging (SQS, EventBridge), and identity and security services (IAM, IRSA, KMS, Secrets Manager)
• Preferred: Experience building and scaling data pipelines or lakehouse workloads using Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake, and understanding event-driven ingestion at scale
• Preferred: Experience integrating generative AI or LLM capabilities into production systems, with consideration for cost, latency, and data governance
• Preferred: Familiarity with multi-tenant architecture, including tenant isolation, schema-per-tenant, provisioning, and entitlements
• Preferred: Experience delivering software to regulated, isolated, or air-gapped environments, including data-residency guarantees, egress allowlisting, and control-plane/data-plane separation
• Preferred: Supply-chain and platform security experience, including image signing and verification, offline token validation (JWT/OIDC), and least-privilege access design

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, addressing technical problems beyond routine approaches
• Build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug colleagues code
• Lead team adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and encourage reuse of effective patterns
• Use software development lifecycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring issues and improve application and system stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architecture, technical capabilities, and fit with existing systems
• Lead software engineering communities of practice to promote awareness and adoption of new technologies
• Design and deliver services for a distributed, multi-tenant platform, including backend APIs, data collection and ingestion workloads, data pipelines, and a customer-facing dashboard that operates in cloud SaaS and isolated customer AWS environments
• Apply security and privacy by design throughout the software development lifecycle, including data residency, least-privilege IAM, default-deny egress, and signed and verified artifacts
