We teach life skills and build healthy habits through skill-based groups and individual interactions. Residential Counselors and our therapy cat Lucy, work alongside our residents in their journey of understanding and accepting their illness and learning the skills necessary to live healthy independent lives. If you want to make a lasting difference in someone's life, this is the place to start!Position HighlightsProvide hope to our folks and to their familiesChange livesDuties & ResponsibilitiesMaintains physical environment and program standards to CHR, DMHAS, TJC, and DPH licensing standards.Establish rapport and working relationship, utilizing person centered practices.Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to transfer information to other staff regarding the daily events.Teaches and assists all residents in areas of rehabilitation including nutrition and wellness, meal preparation, hygiene, laundry, banking and budgeting, basic home care skills, substance use education and recovery skills.Assists/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor.Prepares and facilitates educational and skill building groups and one to one intervention as directed by the treatment plan.Monitors medications of all residents in accordance with the Adult Residential Medication policy and procedure.Collaborates and coordinates care with providers and families as needed.Assists residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs.Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.Participates in staff meetings, supervision, training, and other meetings as assigned.Additional duties as required.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferredExperience: Two years' experience in the provision of mental health services required for applicants without a Bachelor's degree; Experience working with adults with Serious Mental Illness in a residential or supported living setting preferred; experience providing skills building teaching in group format preferred.Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR/First-Aid Certification within 6 months of hire or according to program requirements.
