Senior Kids Activewear Designer - Boys & Girls

Job Title: Senior Kids Activewear Designer – Boys & Girls Reports to: Design Director We are seeking a talented Senior Kids Activewear Designer to lead the design and development of boys’ and girls’ activewear for a key Walmart business. This role is ideal for a creative, commercially minded designer who understands the mass-market customer and can translate activewear trends into compelling, age-appropriate collections. Responsibilities Design seasonal boys’ and girls’ activewear collections for Walmart. Research trends, color, fabric, graphics, silhouettes, and competitive market activity. Translate emerging trends into commercial, brand-right products at accessible price points. Create concept boards, color palettes, CADs, technical sketches, prints, and graphics. Build cohesive assortments across tops, bottoms, sets, and related activewear categories. Partner with merchandising, product development, sourcing, and production teams throughout the product lifecycle. Prepare and maintain accurate design packages, including construction details, fabric direction, colorways, and artwork. Participate in fittings and provide clear comments to ensure design intent, fit, quality, and cost objectives are achieved. Present seasonal concepts and product assortments to internal leadership and retail partners. Manage multiple seasons and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Mentor junior designers and provide creative direction as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline. Approximately 7–10+ years of apparel design experience, ideally within kids’ activewear or sportswear. Experience designing both boys’ and girls’ product. Strong knowledge of the Walmart customer, mass-market retail, and value-driven product development. Excellent proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; experience with PLM systems is preferred. Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric, fit, color, print, and graphic development. Commercial sensibility with the ability to balance creativity, cost, and retailer requirements. Excellent presentation, communication, organization, and time-management skills. Ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
