Leave of Absence Specialist Full Time Administrative Santa Fe Springs, CA, US 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1111 Position Summary The Leave of Absence Specialist (LOAS) is responsible for managing and administering all employee leave of absence (LOA) programs, including FMLA, long-term disability, military leave, personal leave, and other company-sponsored leave policies. This role serves as the primary point of contact for employees and HR regarding leave-related matters and ensures all processes are handled accurately, consistently, and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Manage and administer all aspects of employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA, LTD, military, personal, and other statutory or company-approved leaves. Ensure all LOA requests are processed accurately and within required timeframes in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Serve as a subject matter expert to HR and leadership on LOA policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Provide guidance and support to employees regarding leave options, documentation requirements, and return-to-work processes in a compliant and empathetic manner. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all LOA cases, approvals, and related communications. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including FMLA, ADA, CFRA, and other leave-related legislation. Track, analyze, and report on LOA trends, including leave duration, frequency, and return-to-work status. Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and improve the employee experience related to leave administration. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing leaves of absence in a high-volume environment. Strong working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, CFRA, LTD, and related employment laws and regulations. Excellent organizational, communication, and case management skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer and attending meetings. Occasional standing and walking within office or warehouse environments. Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and HR systems for documentation, reporting, and communication. Clear verbal and written communication skills for employee interaction, training, and case discussions. Ability to lift and move light office materials up to 15 pounds as needed. Visual and auditory ability to review documentation, participate in meetings, and communicate effectively with employees and leadership.
