Platform Engineering Manager

Responsibilities Partner with Product Management to define strategy, roadmap and adoption of a centralized service catalog and self‑service capabilities that reduce friction and cognitive load for engineering teams. Establish clear “Golden Paths” that enable teams to build, deploy and operate software safely and efficiently while maintaining flexibility to innovate. Act as a key connector between platform engineering, architecture, security and application teams—ensuring cloud platform tooling is intuitive, scalable and aligned with enterprise standards. Lead and grow a team of Platform Engineers, investing in coaching, technical excellence and career development. Drive improvements in developer velocity, onboarding efficiency and platform consistency across the organization. Qualifications Experience leading internal platforms or developer‑facing products with a focus on developer experience as a core product capability. Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices, including CI/CD, GitOps and cloud‑native platforms such as Kubernetes. Familiarity with the Internal Developer Portal ecosystem and tools such as Backstage, Port or Cortex. Ability to build alignment and consensus across Security, SRE, Architecture and Engineering leadership. Experience managing and developing teams across multiple locations and time zones. Comfort partnering with Product Managers and delivery leads to prioritize work and drive predictable outcomes. Experience embedding AI‑assisted development into developer workflows and defining clear working conventions. Continuous learning mindset and desire to adopt new technologies. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience). Skills and Experience 10+ years of experience in engineering roles, 5+ years leading and developing engineering teams. Internal Developer Platforms and service catalogs (e.g., Backstage or similar frameworks). Cloud platforms and container orchestration (AWS preferred; Kubernetes and Docker). Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform or equivalent). Software development using languages such as TypeScript, Python, Java or Go. API and microservice design in distributed systems. DevOps and DevSecOps practices across the full SDLC. Observability concepts including metrics, logs, traces and open standards such as OpenTelemetry. CI/CD tooling and developer workflows (e.g., GitHub, Jira, Confluence, pipeline orchestration tools). Technical documentation, including product requirements, high‑level architecture and detailed design artifacts.
