Associate Principal Engineer - AI Cloud Platform

Associate Principal Engineer responsible for designing and developing cloud-based products and services at Exelixis, including cloud automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, and AWS account provisioning. The role involves product strategy, complex technical problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring engineers across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Define and design cloud platform architecture including automation tools, standards, and AWS provisioning
- Lead large complex projects and guide successful completion of major initiatives from ideation through production
- Refine end-to-end development processes including CI/CD, security scanning, and production monitoring
- Mentor and coach engineering teams on technical excellence and platform strategy
- Serve as technical expert and subject matter expert for platform direction and infrastructure decisions
Requirements
- Master's degree in relevant field with 9 years experience, or Bachelor's with 11 years experience
- At least 10 years cloud infrastructure experience in highly available production environments
- Advanced AWS knowledge including EC2, RDS, Systems Manager, and IAM
- Advanced infrastructure-as-code expertise, particularly Terraform
- Intermediate cloud and infrastructure automation knowledge
- Intermediate modern CI/CD development and deployment practices knowledge
- SOX and FDA regulated environment experience preferred
Compensation: $182,000 - $259,000 base annually
