Title: Manager, Technical Accounting

Position Overview

• We are seeking a Manager of Technical Accounting to join a corporate Technical Accounting team supporting a large, complex organization.

• This position will serve as a technical accounting resource to business and finance teams, providing guidance on accounting policies, complex transactions, internal controls, and financial reporting matters. The role will also work closely with external auditors and cross-functional partners, including Tax, Internal Audit, Legal, Business Development, and Finance.

• Reporting to the Vice President of Technical Accounting, this position will conduct technical accounting research, support the implementation of new accounting standards, review complex transactions and contracts, assist with financial reporting activities, and contribute to accounting-related projects across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a technical accounting resource for complex accounting matters and transactions, including revenue recognition, mergers and acquisitions, business combinations, film accounting, and lease accounting.
• Conduct accounting research involving unusual or complex transactions.
• Support technical accounting analyses, including financial modeling and contract reviews.
• Prepare technical accounting documentation, including accounting memoranda, white papers, and FAQs.
• Support and document accounting positions under IFRS.
• Update accounting policies and procedures as needed.
• Work with business subject matter experts to understand current accounting practices and develop future-state processes.
• Research and support the implementation of new IFRS standards, pronouncements, and accounting policies.
• Coordinate with Finance teams, external auditors, and other stakeholders on accounting matters.
• Support quarterly and annual financial statement reviews and external audit activities.
• Assist with accounting training to promote consistent application of corporate accounting policies.
• Help define, document, and implement accounting processes in accordance with IFRS requirements and project timelines.
• Manage multiple workstreams independently while meeting project deadlines.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on special projects, including due diligence and transaction-related initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification required.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting or a related industry.
• Significant experience conducting technical accounting research and documenting accounting conclusions.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS; IFRS experience is preferred.
• Experience reviewing complex transactions, contracts, or accounting arrangements is preferred.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical accounting concepts to stakeholders with varying levels of accounting expertise.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across Finance and other business functions.
• Strong Microsoft Office and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies used to improve research, analysis, documentation, and process efficiency.
• Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and work within an Agile-oriented environment.

Ideal Background:

• Candidates with a combination of public accounting and corporate technical accounting experience will align well with the responsibilities of this position.
• Experience involving IFRS, GAAP research, complex transactions, financial reporting, M&A/business combinations, revenue recognition, lease accounting, or accounting policy development is particularly relevant.
