Exploration Geologist

Company Description Octavia Technologies is an early-stage, venture-backed startup operating at the intersection of artificial intelligence and critical minerals exploration. Role Description The Exploration Geologist will play a key role in designing and executing field and subsurface exploration programs that inform Octavia’s AI-driven platform. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Palo Alto, CA, working closely with geoscientists, data scientists, and engineers. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting geological mapping campaigns, logging and interpreting drill data, performing core logging, and contributing to geochemical sampling and analysis strategies. The person in this role will synthesize field observations, drilling results, and geochemical data into coherent geological models and exploration targets. Additional tasks include supporting data quality assurance, collaborating on integration of geological data into digital workflows, preparing technical reports and presentations, and contributing to the continuous improvement of exploration methodologies. Qualifications Strong field geology skills including Geological Mapping and Logging for mineral exploration programs. Experience with Drilling operations and Core Logging, including sampling workflows and data recording. Applied Geochemistry skills for designing sampling programs, interpreting assays, and integrating geochemical datasets into geological models. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline. Experience in mineral exploration (critical minerals or metals preferred), with familiarity in structural geology and ore deposit models. Proficiency with geological software and GIS tools (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, ArcGIS, QGIS) and comfort working with digital datasets. Ability to work safely in field environments, follow HSE protocols, and operate effectively in cross-functional teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills; ability to produce clear technical reports and maps. Interest in or exposure to AI, data science, or computational approaches to geoscience is a strong plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
