Location 2555 Old State Rte 32,Batavia, OH, 45103,United States Base Pay $16.00 - $19.00 / Hour Employee Type Full Time Required Degree 2 Year Degree Manage Others Yes Under the direction of the Center Director or Associate Executive Director of Child Development Services, the Assistant Center Director is responsible for the operation of full day early childhood program, including administration, curriculum and daily operations of the assigned child care center. K ey Responsibilities Collaborate with the center director to direct, develop and manage day-to-day of assigned classroom and branch operations. Monitor and support factors related to operation of a child care center, ensuring that the programs meet all state, local and YMCA regulations and standards; implements the Creative Curriculum; routinely observes classrooms to ensure compliance and quality. Motivate staff to maximize collaboration, retention and growth. Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Manage time to support multiple classrooms / staff and work in the classroom part time, which includes accurate classroom records in compliance with state licensing, YMCA, and program requirements. Partner with parents at enrollment in order to meet the educational needs of their child (ren). Plan and implement educational programs for children to meet all requirements of Ohio’s Early Learning Initiative. Ensure that all aspects of the program are developmentally appropriate and meets the individual physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of the participants. Prepare and monitor staff schedules, modifying as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times, as specified by the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati and regulatory guidelines. Assist to develop, implement and monitor an annual training plan for center staff, ensuring that staff receives training sufficient in content and quality to meet program requirements and needs. Assist to maintain and submit an accurate accounting of payments, statistics, records and reports in compliance with state licensing, YMCA, ELI and program requirements. Promotes, organizes and implements program enrollment, ensuring optimal enrollment at all times. Maintain the Association guidelines, oversee the purchasing system and ensure proper stewardship of Association resources. Ensure the center provides a developmentally appropriate, diverse selection of materials, equipment and experiences for all enrolled children, including multicultural, non-sexist and anti-bias. Monitor center health and safety practices, ensuring adherence to state, local and YMCA standards. Plan and implement maintenance of the center to ensure that program facilities and equipment exhibit high standards in maintenance, cleanliness, presentation and repair. Develop, evaluate and enforce effective, efficient program policies and procedures and ensure the Association’s Child Protection policies, child abuse and neglect guidelines and proper reporting procedures are upheld at all times. Ensure appealing and meaningful programs and events for parents and/or families are provided; regularly attend programs and ensures that center and teaching staff provide an ongoing network of support for program parents. Routinely evaluate program quality and practices and implement steps to remedy weaknesses. Facilitate a positive classroom environment and the development of self-control in children through the use of positive guidance techniques; expectations match and respect children’s developing capabilities. Provides opportunities for children to use their large muscles, both indoors and outdoors, with consideration for each child’s physical and developmental capabilities. Uphold and exemplify the YMCA’s principles of Character Development, Asset Development and Member/Participant Service and programs which build “strong kids, strong families and strong communities”. Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned. Qualifications Must possess a minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field or significant employment experiences directly related to the functions of the position. Must meet all “Center Administrator” criteria as outlined in the licensing requirements of the Department of Human Services of the state and local governments; and NAEYC Accreditation. Must possess and demonstrate ability to engage in all activities associated with the daily care, activities and routines of an early childhood program, including but not limited to: interacting with children at floor level, physical education activities such as running, jumping, etc., lifting children and/or equipment, supervising groups of children, participating in outdoor activities, field trips and swimming as needed. Must possess oral, auditory, verbal and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with children and adults. Must possess and demonstrate positive public relations, customer service skills, and decision-making and leadership skills. Must complete and maintain current status in First Aid, Common Childhood Illnesses, Child Abuse Prevention and CPR.
