General Supply Specialist

Summary About the Position: Serves as a technical expert in requisition processes and controls, ammunition management, logistics data management, supply, inventory, systems management, and accountability functions. Responsibilities Provide technical guidance and assistance on Military Standard Requisitioning and Issue Procedures (MILSTRIP) processing. Develop and coordinate the processing of requisitions utilizing automatic data processing equipment and programs. Perform as customer service point of contact for the Supply Support Activity for the Southwest Region on supply status, MILSTRIP follow-ups, customer cancellations, and all other technical information on world-wide Army requisition type documents. Investigate erroneous processes in the programs, recommends corrective actions, assists and coordinates the courses of action among customers and various elements of the SSA to preclude recurrence. Process MILSTRIP and Military Standard Transaction Reporting and Accounting Procedure (MILSTRAP) documents relating to receipts, issues, backorder reconciliation, inter-depot transfers and material histories. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Interpret and apply supply, inventory, and requisition regulations, policies and procedures for day to day operations; Utilize automated supply and requisition databases to identify problem areas for distribution facilities and supply management determinations; Compile and analyze supply information and data; and Reconstructing records for complex supply transitions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: any field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
