Application Engineer I

Job Summary The Application Engineer I at Trane Commercial Systems will design commercial HVAC equipment and systems that meet customer demand and industry standards. You will collaborate across disciplines, develop design and project documentation, and support production and customer testing. Responsibilities Review approved project plans, specifications and schedules for a varying customer base. Design custom HVAC systems that meet customer demand and industry standards. Manage project scope and bid documentation to identify cost‑reduction opportunities. Create and manage submittal packages with the required level of detail. Consult directly with customers and host coordination meetings between factory and stakeholders. Coordinate across disciplines to provide concise product design. Review submittals processed by others for accuracy and provide on‑time project deliverables. Prepare and manage bills of materials for equipment procurement. Provide engineering support for production, including design drawing reviews, quality audit checks and basic problem solving. Provide scope definition and coordinate air handler performance testing. Support customer visits and witness testing. Provide feedback to identify opportunities for process efficiency and quality improvements. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (required). Proficiency in AutoCAD (required). Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint). Experience with HVAC components such as coils, filters, dampers, motors, and fans. Strong organization and project‑management skills to balance multiple concurrent projects. Excellent technical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Self‑starter with high energy level and career commitment. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team structure. Compensation Annual Base Salary Range: $67,133.33 – $93,485.00. Salary is influenced by seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
