Engineering Manager

Overview Ludus is a SaaS company that builds digital tools trusted by thousands of organizations of all sizes to power their event ticketing, marketing, fundraising, retail and registration needs. Ludus is looking for an Engineering Manager to ensure strong execution and team health, mentor leaders, and keep development running smoothly as we scale a fast‑growing software product. Responsibilities Keeping a strong pulse on execution quality and overall team health across pods Fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and follow‑through Leading and developing team members through regular 1:1s, feedback, and career growth planning Coaching team leaders on planning, estimation, delegation, and accountability Identifying and addressing blockers, burnout risks, or underutilization Stepping in to unblock teams and escalating larger issues when necessary Monitoring team capacity and rebalancing workloads when needed Acting as a gut check on timelines to ensure work is scoped and paced appropriately Maintaining a clear understanding of each individual’s goals, strengths, and areas for growth Improving processes and introducing systems or automation to reduce friction Supporting cross‑team collaboration and alignment Facilitating regular touch‑points for team leaders to share context, challenges, and best practices Occasionally step into the work with the team to model strong engineering practices, unblock complex problems, and coach in real‑time experiences Qualifications 2+ years of proven experience leading engineering teams Excellent communication abilities – can clearly convey priorities, give constructive feedback, and facilitate productive discussions Process‑oriented mindset – enjoys identifying inefficiencies and creating systems that help teams work better Technical background – understanding of software development lifecycle and engineering best practices Willing to get in the trenches when needed – steps into details at both a product and engineering level to support the team, guide decisions, and coach in real time Adaptability – comfortable managing changing priorities and helping the team navigate shifting requirements Mentorship experience – enjoys developing other leaders and helping team members grow their skills Flexible mindset – open to new ideas, evolving processes, and doing what the team needs to succeed Bonus Qualifications Experience overseeing an engineering team working on a specific product or platform (SaaS company preferred) Experience building out new processes for a company/team rather than just implementing processes already put in place Personal Attributes Humility – grounded, seeking input, admitting mistakes, and valuing team success over personal credit Flexibility – comfortable with change and capable of rapid adaptation in a fast‑growing environment Collaborative and team‑oriented – builds trust, fosters healthy debate, and aligns the team toward shared outcomes Growth‑oriented thinking – designs processes and strategies that evolve as the company grows, always considering the bigger picture Practical wisdom – applies sound judgment in complex situations, balancing technical trade‑offs, people needs, and business impact Benefits Health insurance (Medical, Vision, Dental) – largely covered by Ludus 401(k) matching: full match on first 5% contribution, 50% match on next 5% Profit sharing and stock options – annual profit‑sharing bonuses and stock options Personal wellness reimbursement: $50 monthly for wellness‑related expenses Experience credit: $100 yearly reimbursement for concert or theatre tickets Flexible PTO Sick days allow recovery within reason Role Details Salary Range: $125k–$140k Location: Hybrid – Ada, MI #J-18808-Ljbffr Homerun B.V.
