Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision; evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans
• Operate various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
• Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture
• Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, tracheostomy care, and insertion/removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes (emergent and non-emergent)
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in the patient chart and respiratory care records; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds

Required Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license or certification valid in the state of Ohio
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to operate and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment and perform equipment set-up and self-testing
• Ability to perform routine chest x-ray review and interpret arterial blood gas results to assess ventilation efficiency

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience assisting with moderate complexity laboratory testing, including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
• Familiarity with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation
• Experience with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices
