Patient Plus Therapy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Orthopedic Physical Therapist to join our team in Vansant, Virginia. Work Environment

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist at Patient Plus Therapy, you will work onsite within the home care setting, providing therapy in patients' residences. This unique environment allows you to build meaningful relationships with your patients as you engage in one-on-one therapy sessions that are customized to their specific needs. Our home care approach requires adaptability, critical thinking, and excellent time management skills to ensure that each patient's therapy is effective and completed in a timely manner. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, enhancing the overall patient experience through seamless communication and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients, utilizing comprehensive assessments including history reviews and specific orthopedic assessments to determine the most effective treatment plans.
  • Clearly communicate evaluation findings and treatment strategies to both patients and their families, actively involving them in goals setting to promote compliance and motivation.
  • Implement and adapt treatment protocols based on individual evaluations and patient progress, ensuring effective therapy that evolves with changing healthcare demands.
  • Engage in collaborative discussions with other healthcare professionals when necessary, recognizing when a patient's condition requires adjustments to their plan or further medical consultation.
  • Manage discharge planning by providing recommendations for follow-up care, ensuring a continuum of care is maintained post-therapy.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to organizational procedures and industry standards to capture a transparent account of patient progress.
  • Maintain a productive schedule, demonstrating punctuality, effective time management, and being responsive to departmental goals and initiatives.
  • Participate in community outreach and marketing endeavors to promote physical therapy services and patient access.
  • Demonstrate leadership in professional development through ongoing education and by serving as a clinical instructor to students in the field.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with patients who experience orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal issues. This role requires sensitivity, patience, and a thorough understanding of the physical and emotional challenges faced by patients undergoing rehabilitation in their home environment. Your ability to foster a trusting relationship will be pivotal in motivating patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Qualifications

  • A Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Valid state licensure as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) by the Physical Therapy Examining Committee.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience is essential.
  • A current CPR certificate is necessary to ensure patient safety.

Preferred Experience

While the essential experiences include a general practice background in physical therapy, preference will be given to those who have specialized training or experience in orthopedic physical therapy, particularly in home care settings. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation methodologies will also be beneficial.
