Pharmacy Technician - Oakland - San Leandro, CA

Compensation: $20 - $23 hourly

Overview: Nexus HR is seeking a Pharmacy Technician with strong experience in a fast-paced Long-Term Care, Retail,  and/or  Specialty pharmacy setting, and must have a California State License.

The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting pharmacy operations within a fast-paced Long-Term Care, Retail, and/orSpecialty pharmacy environment. This position is responsible for processing prescriptions, coordinating medication deliveries, managing insurance and billing tasks, maintaining inventory, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all pharmacy regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process prescriptions, insurance information, and customer records accurately.

• Perform data entry, prescription typing, and medication order preparation.

• Schedule patient refills and coordinate prescription deliveries.

• Conduct insurance eligibility verification and resolve billing discrepancies.

• Process and post account payments.

• Fill, package, and prepare medications for pharmacist verification.

• Assist with inventory management, medication reordering, and stock organization.

• Organize delivery schedules and maintain delivery staging areas.

• Respond to customer inquiries in person and over the phone.

• Maintain prescription records and perform clerical and administrative duties as needed.

• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and pharmacy policies regarding patient confidentiality.

• Support pharmacy operations to meet established quality, productivity, and service standards.

Qualifications:

• An active California Pharmacy Technician License is required.

• Minimum of 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience or comparable healthcare/pharmacy experience.

• Experience in Long-Term Care, Retail, and/or Specialty pharmacy settings preferred.

• Strong knowledge of prescription terminology, medications, and pharmacy procedures.

• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and customer service abilities.

• Proficient typing and data entry skills.

• Ability to calculate dosage quantities and days' supply accurately.

• Ability to identify commonly used generic medications, routes of administration, and prescription abbreviations.

• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
