Position Open Until Filled General Description: This position is responsible for monitoring student safety and assisting in the students' loading and unloading to and from school and, when necessary, to extracurricular events on a non-regular basis. Essential Responsibilities:
(Transportation)
This is a part-time 180 day/6.25 hour per day position. This position does not come with benefits.
- Supervises bus riders to maintain safe and orderly bus transport to and from school
- Assists in performing housekeeping duties inside and outside of the vehicle
- Reports mechanical defects to garage staff and/or supervisor
- Enforces rules of conduct and standards for acceptable behavior
- Administers disciplinary procedures in keeping with school board policies and administrative regulations
- Assists students with special needs
- Assists Driver and other staff in emergency evacuation drills in keeping with division regulations and instructs riders regarding being responsible riders
- Manages emergency situations as they occur
- Completes job essential training classes when offered
- Performs related duties as required or assigned
(Transportation)
- Duties are typically performed on a bus or vehicle preparing for or during transportation
- Employees frequently work outdoors in street environments near moving traffic
- Employees frequently work in confined spaces
- Employees are frequently exposed to extreme heat and cold; moving mechanical parts; fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises
- Occasional lifting of equipment, objects, and/or materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required
- Requires sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, visual acuity, and reaction time to operate a school bus or vehicle at all times including emergency situations
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Requires employee to regularly stand; sit; walk; use hands to handle, feel objects, tools, equipment or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Verbal communication and hearing may be required for expressing or exchanging information
- Use of computer or other device screens may be necessary
