HVAC Controls Pre-Install Application Engineer

Job Overview As a Systems Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and operation of complete building control systems including fire, security, and other low voltage control sub‑systems to meet project requirements. Responsibilities Design, configure, and operate building control systems as defined by contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts and electrical schematics. Develop and test software programs to operate the system per requirements. Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. Select, order, and track delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet schedules. Assist in loading and commissioning of system and network‑level controllers. Validate system functionality and solve problems with subcontractors. Provide field change information for as‑built drawings and software. Keep management and project team informed of progress and issues. Assist in site‑specific training for owners/operators. Participate in release meetings with the field team. Perform value engineering to provide cost‑effective results while maintaining satisfaction. Provide work directions to Systems Design Assistants. Adhere to safety standards and ensure subcontractor safety. Travel is required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum 3 years’ experience. Knowledge of construction or HVAC industry. Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems. Experience with JCI software programming. Experience integrating low voltage building subsystems using industry protocols such as LON, BACnet, etc. Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non‑technical audience. Advanced computer skills, particularly drafting tools. Ability to travel regularly. Salary & Benefits Salary range: $78,000 – $105,000 USD. Competitive base salary and comprehensive bonus program.
