Packaging Engineer

Packaging Engineer This role is part of the North American Technical organization, serving as a business partner to various functions to deliver technical packaging support throughout program life cycles. The Packaging Engineer will develop specifications, manage vendor workflows, conduct testing, and support market entry compliance. Responsibilities Maintain compliance through Diageo commercialization process and collaborate with project managers, conversion sites and multi‑functional team members to drive packaging development. Support a variety of programs across innovation, brand change, and supply optimization and deliver packaging from initial scoping through commercialization. Develop technical specifications for packaging components such as shippers, dividers, labels, closures, glass & PET containers. Conduct the technical development and due diligence of packaging components, including creation, routing, approval of all package specifications, and manage specification workflows to vendors. Complete Testing Plans specific to project details, including the completion of a Testing Report and ensure functional acceptability, regulatory compliance and product compatibility. Develop and implement packaging trial and qualification plans. Drive the quality of packaging from concept to consumers while consistently demonstrating pride, authenticity and solution‑focused behavior. Qualifications 4‑year Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Package Engineering or related technical field. Excellent interpersonal ability and teamwork with partners and vendor contacts, handling multiple projects concurrently. Knowledge of packaging materials (shippers, dividers, labels, closures, glass and PET containers). Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat (PDF bundling), TOPS or CAPE software.
