Make a meaningful impact as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a middle school student with some residual hearing. This contract opportunity starts at 7:35am and offers the chance to empower students to access their education and thrive academically and socially.

Your expertise in sign language will help bridge the communication gap, ensuring the student can fully participate in classroom activities, engage with peers, and reach their full potential.

Qualifications:

• Valid IL Professional Educator License (PEL)
• EIPA score of 3.4 or higher
• Experience interpreting in school settings preferred
• Proficient in American Sign Language
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students

Responsibilities:

• Provide interpreting and transliteration services for a middle school student
• Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff
• Support the student’s participation in classroom lessons, activities, and discussions
• Assist educators in fostering an inclusive learning environment
• Adapt interpreting style to fit diverse educational settings and student needs
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting
