Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods. This role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective maternal and neonatal care. The nurse must demonstrate strong communication skills and adaptability within a fast-paced acute care environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients.
• Perform patient assessments including maternal and fetal monitoring.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals.
• Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records using Epic charting system.
• Assist with emergency interventions and neonatal resuscitation as needed.
• Support patients and families through education and emotional support.
• Adhere to facility policies and maintain infection control standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case management.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience; first-time labor and delivery nurses accepted.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN.
• Proficiency in Epic electronic health records system.
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

• Experience with labor and delivery nursing or maternal-child health.
• Intermediate nursing skills as determined by unit director.
• Previous experience in acute care or critical access hospital settings.

• No on-call requirement.
• Weekend work is required.
• Floating within nursing scope to meet facility needs is expected.
• Facility is a Level IV Trauma, Critical Access Hospital with acute care and long-term care beds.
• Facility-provided housing available with restrictions (no pets, single occupancy, cleaning required upon departure).
• Parking is free for staff.

• Work schedule consists of 3 twelve-hour shifts with a variable schedule.
• Guaranteed 60 hours per two-week period, with possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift per pay period.
• Block scheduling accommodation is not available.
