Product Security Engineer (Starlink)

Responsibilities

• Design and build Starlink security infrastructure, including cryptographic and other security-critical services
• Develop security features for Starlink routers, dishes, gateways, and satellites
• Design security into factory processes and provide supporting network services
• Maintain production systems and improve security posture through direct implementation and recommendations to other teams
• Build prototypes and identify, design, and test security improvements
• Support Starlink’s mission to provide secure and reliable Internet to underserved communities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another STEM discipline, or 2+ years of professional experience in security software development in lieu of a degree
• Experience with one or more software development languages, such as Python, C++, or Golang
• Experience designing and implementing security solutions for operating systems, distributed systems, or other enterprise-scale infrastructure
• Experience contributing security improvements to complex systems is preferred
• Experience with Trusted Platform Modules and Hardware Security Modules is preferred
• Understanding of network protocols, including the TCP/IP stack and UDP-based protocols, is preferred
• Applied cryptography, network security, operating system security, secure or authenticated boot, incident response, adversary detection, vulnerability research, or software engineering experience is preferred
• Advanced degree in a technical or engineering discipline is preferred
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
• Must satisfy applicable ITAR work authorization requirements
