Senior Systems Engineer

Salary: $69,000 - 109,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, or equivalent related work or military experience.
• We need 5–7 years of UNIX/Linux systems administration experience in a production environment.
• We look for deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8 and 9), Debian, Solaris, and HPUX.
• We require experience administering VMware vSphere environments.
• We need experience with Rubrik backup software and enterprise backup solutions.
• You should be able to develop and troubleshoot shell scripts.
• We expect strong knowledge of Linux administration, user account management, patching, and security best practices.
• We require experience with Linux logical volume management (LVM and SSM).
• You should be able to diagnose system, resource, storage, and networking issues using tools such as sar, top, and nmon.
• We need experience with Docker, Ansible, and Terraform.
• You should understand networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, NTP, and routing.
• We require experience with LDAP authentication and enterprise identity management.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds is needed.
• You should understand IT service management processes and tools, including ServiceNow and ITIL frameworks.
• You must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a matrixed environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce detailed technical documentation, are required.
• Red Hat or Linux certification is preferred.
• ITIL certification is preferred.
• Experience with Pure Storage technologies is preferred.
• Experience supporting cloud infrastructure platforms is preferred.
• Knowledge of SAN and NAS storage technologies is preferred.
• Familiarity with security technologies such as firewalls and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) is preferred.
• Advanced VMware administration experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, along with the capacity to quickly learn new technologies, is important.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to operational excellence are important.
• The ability to identify automation opportunities, performance improvements, and process enhancements is important.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities at once, are important.
• Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset are important.
• The ability to coach, mentor, and influence team members across multiple technical disciplines is important.
• A calm, professional approach during high-pressure situations, incidents, and escalations is important.
• Self-motivation with a strong sense of ownership and accountability is important.

• We maintain UNIX/Linux server environments to ensure strong performance, availability, and reliability across enterprise systems.
• We develop, test, and roll out system enhancements and configuration improvements through established change management processes.
• We create and maintain automation scripts to streamline daily operational and maintenance work.
• We assess, configure, test, and deploy new technologies to expand infrastructure capabilities and support business goals.
• We keep configuration and asset management records accurate for hardware, software, and infrastructure changes.
• We design, implement, and run standardized procedures to monitor system health and produce operational reports and logs.
• We lead infrastructure projects and drive them to timely, successful completion.
• We provide technical leadership, coaching, and support to Level 2 UNIX/Linux engineers, including help with incident resolution and best practices.
• We take part in a 24x7 on-call rotation and support critical incident response.
• We collaborate with cross-functional IT teams on performance tuning, new site deployments, relocations, upgrades, and infrastructure initiatives.
