Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Riverside, CA, with a fast-paced food manufacturing company. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who understands manufacturing operations, inventory, cost accounting, and the financial impact of production activity.The Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations, lead the close process, support accurate financial reporting, and partner closely with Operations, Production, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and senior leadership. This is a strong opportunity to join a collaborative environment where accounting plays a visible role in improving profitability, strengthening processes, and supporting informed business decisions.Key Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring financial statements and management reports are accurate and timely.- Oversee inventory accounting for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods, including reconciliations and discrepancy resolution.- Analyze product costs, labor, overhead, COGS, standard costs, manufacturing variances, yield, waste, scrap, and production efficiency.- Partner with operations, production, purchasing, and supply chain teams to evaluate vendor costs, purchase price variances, margins, and operational performance.- Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, tax preparation, internal controls, process improvements, and accounting staff development.Compensation and Benefits- Salary: $100,000 per year.- Job Type: Direct Hire.- Location: Riverside, CA.Required Qualifications and Skills- Oversee manufacturing accounting operations, including general ledger, close, reporting, inventory, and cost accounting.- Lead financial analysis related to COGS, production costs, standard costs, variances, labor, overhead, and inventory activity.- Manage month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, financial schedules, and financial statement preparation.- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide accounting insight that supports operational and profitability decisions.- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with management or supervisory experience preferred.- Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing accounting, general ledger accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting.- Experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, accruals, and management reporting.- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and financial analysis.- Experience with an ERP or accounting system such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Sage, or a similar platform.- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.- Previous experience in food manufacturing, food production, consumer products, manufacturing, or another inventory-intensive environment.- Experience with standard and actual cost accounting, inventory valuation, manufacturing variance analysis, bill of materials, and production costing.- Budgeting, forecasting, and internal or external audit coordination experience.- Exposure to FDA, USDA, SQF, HACCP, or other food-industry compliance environments.Equal Opportunity Employer / Disabled / Protected VeteransThe Know Your Rights poster is available here:The pay transparency policy is available here:For temporary assignments lasting 13 weeks or longer, AppleOne is pleased to offer major medical, dental, vision, 401k and any statutory sick pay where required.We are committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities.
