Occupational Therapist

Occupational TherapistMadera Community Hospital is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients across our inpatient and/or outpatient settings, helping restore, improve, and maintain functional independence in daily living activities. You'll develop individualized treatment plans based on physician referral and clinical evaluation, document patient progress in accordance with regulatory and payer requirements, and collaborate closely with physicians, nursing, case management, and the broader care team to support safe, timely patient recovery and discharge planning.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform occupational therapy evaluations and functional assessments per physician referral and establish individualized plans of careProvide direct patient treatment, including therapeutic activities, ADL/IADL retraining, splinting, adaptive equipment recommendations, and caregiver educationDocument evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in the EMR in compliance with Title 22, Joint Commission, and payer documentation standardsCommunicate and coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, physical and speech therapy, case management, and social servicesParticipate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning to support safe transitions of careMonitor patient response to treatment and modify plans of care as clinically indicatedEducate patients and family/caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and equipment useMaintain productivity and documentation standards consistent with department expectationsEnsure a safe treatment environment and proper use/maintenance of therapy equipmentParticipate in department performance improvement activities, in-services, and mandatory hospital trainingPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of the Occupational Therapist licenseEducation and LicensureMaster's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited programCurrent California Occupational Therapist license in good standing (or eligible with active application)NBCOT certification requiredCurrent BLS certification (American Heart Association) requiredExperienceNew graduates welcome to apply; acute care, inpatient rehab, or SNF experience preferredPrior experience with EMR documentation systems preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of occupational therapy evaluation tools, treatment modalities, and adaptive equipmentStrong clinical judgment and ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary teamEffective verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and care team membersAbility to prioritize a caseload and manage time effectively in a fast-paced hospital environmentBasic computer literacy and ability to navigate EMR/documentation systemsPhysical Demands and Working ConditionsFrequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting; may include assisting with patient transfers and mobilityAbility to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and provide physical assistance to patients as neededWork is performed in a clinical hospital setting with potential exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and hazardous materials; standard precautions applyMay require flexibility in scheduling, including occasional weekend or on-call coverage based on department needs.
