Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician, you will work closely with a small team of mechanics to perform preventive maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns across a production facility. You will focus heavily on electrical work, including 480-volt systems, gauges, PLCs, sterilization equipment, and boilers, while troubleshooting and repairing primarily conveyor systems. This role is ideal for someone with an industrial, fermentation, or chemical processing background who enjoys hands-on work and can also perform welding as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on production machinery, including mechanical and pneumatic systems, to ensure reliable and safe operation.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and diagnose root causes, with a primary focus on conveyor systems and associated mechanical and electrical components.
• Conduct electrical maintenance and troubleshooting on 480-volt systems, three-phase power, motors, and related industrial electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled machinery, including basic PLC editing and adjustments to support efficient operation.
• Work with sterilization systems and boilers, ensuring they operate safely and effectively within production requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to guide repairs, rebuilds, and equipment tear downs.
• Rebuild and tear down mechanical components and assemblies as needed for repair, replacement, or upgrade.
• Perform welding tasks as required to support equipment repair, modification, or fabrication.
• Use computer systems to document maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment histories accurately and in a timely manner.
• Collaborate closely with other mechanics and maintenance team members, sharing knowledge and supporting a cooperative, team-oriented environment.
• Provide service and support across industrial production areas, ensuring machines are maintained to meet operational and safety standards.
• Assist in maintaining conveyor systems, motors, and other industrial machinery used in the production of organic-based solubles.
• Follow established maintenance procedures and safety practices while contributing ideas to improve processes and equipment reliability.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in mechanical machine repair, including pneumatic systems and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Hands-on electrical maintenance experience working with 480-volt industrial systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical issues in industrial equipment.
• Experience with machine repair and maintenance in an industrial environment.
• Competence in electrical troubleshooting, including three-phase power and motor controls.
• Ability to work effectively on conveyor systems and related mechanical components.
• Comfort working with PLC-controlled equipment and performing basic PLC troubleshooting.
• Industrial maintenance experience covering both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to use computers for documentation and maintenance record keeping.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in fermentation, formentation, or chemical processing environments.
• Experience repairing and maintaining conveyor systems in a production setting.
• Ability to perform PLC editing to support equipment performance and process improvements.
• Welding skills for equipment repair, modification, and fabrication.
• Industrial service experience, including working with sterilization systems and boilers.
• Experience with industrial motors, conveyor systems, and PLC controls.
• Comfort working in a pharma-related or agricultural production environment focused on organic-based solubles.
• Strong teamwork orientation and willingness to assist with a wide range of tasks.
• Attention to detail and pride in workmanship within a small, collaborative shop environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a smaller start-up facility in the pharma industry that produces organic-based solubles for the agricultural sector. You will typically work on first shift, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with some flexibility as needed. The maintenance department operates across three shifts, creating a continuous support structure for production. The environment has a small shop feel where everyone is known and valued, and team members take pride in their work and willingly help each other, with no one considering themselves above any job. You will work with industrial equipment such as conveyors, motors, boilers, sterilization systems, PLC-controlled machinery, and 480-volt electrical systems, using tools for mechanical repair, welding, and electrical troubleshooting in a hands-on, collaborative setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Bangor, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $70720.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. They do annual 10% bonuses, offer a great 401k match and have a great benefits package.
