This full-time position, based in our comprehensive hospital facility in Oneonta, New York, is a unique opportunity to work alongside licensed Physical Therapists in a collaborative environment. Work Environment

This position is onsite at our hospital facility in Oneonta, offering a dynamic and fast-paced practice environment. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, physicians, and nursing staff, to provide comprehensive care. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life integration while providing the best care possible to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the implementation of personalized treatment plans developed by licensed Physical Therapists.
  • Delivering direct patient care through therapeutic exercises, manual therapies, and modalities to improve patients' physical functions.
  • Monitoring patient progress, documenting changes accurately, and adjusting treatment approaches as necessary to optimize recovery.
  • Educating patients and their families on exercise techniques and care plans to encourage adherence and empower them throughout the rehabilitation process.
  • Working cohesively with the healthcare team to discuss patient outcomes and collaborate on effective treatments.
  • Maintaining meticulous patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our physical therapy clinic primarily serves patients with orthopedic conditions, including post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, and chronic pain management. In this role, you will interact with a diverse group of patients, including athletes, elderly individuals, and post-operative patients. Your compassionate approach will be crucial in fostering trust and motivating patients through their recovery journeys.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or an equivalent program.
  • Current and active state PTA licensure.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in an orthopedic setting.
  • Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology pertinent to physical therapy.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic patient care while maintaining professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate effective interactions with patients and other healthcare professionals.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with additional certifications in specialized therapeutic techniques or experience with specific patient populations, such as athletes or the elderly, will be highly regarded. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems will also be beneficial for data management and patient tracking.
