Street Maintenance Worker

Job Summary Street Maintenance Worker I, II, and III position in the City of Olathe. Entry-level, mid-level, and senior-level roles with career progression. Schedule 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday; hours may vary in summer. Pay Street Maintenance Worker I: $19.75 per hour. Street Maintenance Worker II: $21.75 per hour. Street Maintenance Worker III: $23.75 per hour. Qualifications No experience required for Street Maintenance Worker I (1‑year preferred). Street Maintenance Worker II requires 2 or more years in construction or infrastructure maintenance. Street Maintenance Worker III requires 3 or more years; municipal experience preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be able to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. A valid driver’s license required. A ClassB commercial driver’s license with air brake and tanker endorsements is required within six months of employment. Must be able to operate a commercial vehicle in the State of Kansas. Responsibilities Perform construction and maintenance activities including concrete and asphalt removal, preparation and finishing, crack seal preparation and placement, poly‑foam leveling, and pothole repairs. Participate in winter snow and ice maintenance operations. Operate specialty equipment and vehicles: trucks, snowplows, salt spreaders, and hand and power tools. Maintain a safe job site and work environment by ensuring proper traffic control and safety standards as required by city, county, state, and federal regulations. Perform emergency duties, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required; may work modified hours as needed. Benefits Competitive pay and time off.
