Labor & Delivery RN – Travel Contract

Specialty: Labor & Delivery RN
Location: South Dakota
Contract: 13 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week
Shift: 12-Hour Variable — 6:30 AM/PM
Weekend: Every other weekend
First-Time Travelers: Yes

Facility/Unit:

• 10 Labor & Delivery beds
• 4 OB ED/Triage beds
• 4 Antepartum rooms
• Level 3 NICU
• High-risk and low-intervention deliveries
• Antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and newborn care
• Epic charting

Required Experience:

• 2+ years of L&D experience
• Level 3+ L&D experience preferred
• High-acuity labor experience
• Must be comfortable caring for patients <35 weeks gestation
• Must care for postpartum/couplet patients throughout the contract
• Must be comfortable with normal newborn nursery (Level I) care

Required Skills:

• Preeclampsia and preterm labor management
• IV starts
• Cervical checks
• Phlebotomy
• Magnesium sulfate
• Blood administration
• Insulin administration
• C-section circulation and recovery
• Antepartum care
• Couplets/postpartum care
• Newborn nursery care

Certifications:

• BLS – Required
• NRP – Required
• ACLS – Preferred
• Inpatient Obstetrics certification – Preferred
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring – Preferred
• Inpatient Antepartum certification – Preferred

Additional Requirements:

• South Dakota RN license
• Epic experience required; manager approval required if absent
• Level 3+ L&D experience required; manager approval required if absent
• Variable shifts: Must be comfortable working both days and nights
• Holiday coverage as needed
• May be placed on low-census call
• May be expected to precept students
