Material Handler

Join a dynamic team in a food and beverage environment specializing in the production of hummus and salsa. You will work at the Ferndale location, where the majority of the salsa and hummus areas are maintained at cooler temperatures due to refrigeration requirements. This role involves operating and managing filler machines, ensuring they fill plastic containers with the finished product.

Responsibilities

• Operate an electric pallet jack to move finished goods from the production lines to the dock.
• Stock production lines with necessary containers and lids.
• Understand and perform basic math to manage inventory and production runs.
• Ensure proper operation and troubleshooting of machines.
• Conduct inspections and weight checks for quality assurance.

Essential Skills

• Experience with an electric pallet jack.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Proficient in basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
• Comfortable with computer operations, such as navigating apps on a smartphone or computer.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• In food and beverage or any industrial sector is advantageous.
• Familiarity with industrial equipment like filling machines and mixers that use pneumatics, hydraulics, valves, and hoses.

Work Environment

Work in a food and beverage environment where most areas are refrigerated to maintain product quality. Full PPE, including lab coats, hairnets, rubber gloves, and beard nets, is required. Shifts are available from 6am to 2:30pm, 2:30pm to 11pm, and 10:30pm to 6am, Monday through Friday, with mandatory Saturdays and potential Sunday shifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ferndale, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
