The primary job function is to be responsible for managing dental hygiene and treatment of periodontal disease of patients under direction of staff dentists. Essential Functions : Responsible for assessing and obtaining clinical evidence of patient\'s level of periodontal health, including all relevant and required chart documentation. Responsible for exposure and developing appropriate diagnostic radiographs. Provides appropriate treatment of existing oral diseases as diagnosed by the dentist. Provides treatment of acute and chronic periodontal, gingival, and oral conditions, in conjunction with dentist. a.Treatments are to include mechanical and ultrasonic instrumentation (scaling and root-planning removal of calculus), supra/sub-gingival removal of plaque/calculus/biofilm and coronal polishing. b.Application of fluorides and other medicaments as necessary. c.Restoration of cavities prepared by the dentist. d.Take all types of prescribed radiographs. e.Provide oral hygiene, homecare, and post-operative instruction to the patient and/or caregiver. f.Any additional allowable procedures under WAC regulations and guidelines. 5.Assists in identification of special patient needs, such as adjunctive antibiotics, rinses, or hygiene aids in conjunction with dentist. 6.Educates patients in all aspects of oral hygiene, and consequences and treatment options for periodontal disease. 7.Provide education and limited off site care as scheduled and within the scope of the clinic and the scope of WAC guidelines. 8.Maintains dental hygiene treatment rooms in clean and orderly condition, stocked with appropriate treatment instruments and materials in conjunction with dental assistants. 9.Record treatment in daily record, chart periodontal probing, and update hygiene tracking sheets as necessary in dental records. 10.Delivers appropriate local and inhalation anesthesia for patient comfort under supervision of dentist. 11.Performs expanded function duties, ( placing and adjusting filling, temporary fillings, impressions, temporary crown cementation, facilitating teledentistry etc. as stipulated under WAC regulations/guidelines) as necessary under supervision of dentist. Qualifications 1.Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited dental hygiene school. Must be a board-certified hygienist. 2.Certification/Licensure: Must possess current, valid unrestricted license to practice dental hygiene in the State of Washington. Providers will receive a holiday pool of 64 hours as a 1.0 FTE at the beginning of each calendar year. If an employee starts after the calendar year has begun, holiday hours will be prorated based on remaining holidays in the calendar year. Spanish Immersion $2,000 Employer will reimburse Provider up to $2,000, for participating in Pop Wuj Spanish Immersion program in Guatemala, or La Hacienda Spanish School in Mexico, for a minimum 3-week period, prior to the Provider’s initial start date. CE 40 Hrs/ $2,000 per year based on 1.0 FTE. This will include BLS Certification renewal if completed offsite and not in house. CVCH provides BLS renewal in house for employees whose job description and license require one. Available immediately.
