JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: H-MD-134068 Profession: Physician Specialty: Neurology Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Charleston, South Carolina Facility: MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital Health System: Medical University of South Carolina Health - Locums Coverage Period: Nov 02, 2026 Nov 09, 2026 Shift Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 8:00 AM 8:00 AM Hours Per Shift: 24 Shifts Per Week: 7 Reason for Coverage: Backfill FTE Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: Daily avg of 8 inpatient EEGs and 10 outpatient EEGs; plus 4-6 EMU patients per week Case Mix: Inpatient Pediatric Epilepsy, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), EEG interpretation Rounding: Included (EMU patients) Phone Consults: Included FACILITY INFORMATION Trauma Level: N/A EMR System: Epic Specialty Backup Available: Yes, comprehensive specialty backup available at MUSC Support Staff Available: RNs, EEG Techs PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: Must have active SC license in hand or scheduled to be issued; expedited privileging available Temporary Privileges Available: Yes REQUIRED PROCEDURES Inpatient and outpatient EEG interpretation Epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) patient management JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC/BE in Neurology (preferably with Epilepsy fellowship) Licenses: Active South Carolina Medical License (or scheduled to be issued) DEA / CDS: Active DEA and CDS required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS preferred Experience: Residency trained in Neurology, fellowship in Epilepsy preferred Other Qualifications: Completion of MUSC hospital modules and EPIC personalization prior to start DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide comprehensive inpatient care for patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), managing an average of 4-6 patients per week. Interpret all inpatient and outpatient EEGs, with an average daily volume of approximately 8 inpatient and 10 outpatient studies. Cover 24-hour shifts from Monday at 8:00 AM to the following Monday at 8:00 AM, including on-site day shifts and nightly call. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital to ensure continuity of care for pediatric epilepsy patients. Complete all required hospital modules and EPIC personalization prior to the start of the assignment.
